Chip Card - EMV

To meet EMV (Europay/Mastercard®/Visa®) standards, banks have begun issuing credit and debit cards with chip card and contactless technology. Visa®, Mastercard®, AMEX® and Discover® have created a deadline schedule for implementation of EMV in the USA.

Deadlines for EMV:
  • April 2013  -  Processing companies must support chip acceptance.
  • October 2013  - Merchants should have EMV approved chip card readers.
  • October 2015  -  Liability for counterfeit fraud shifts to merchants that do not have certified chip card readers.

Merchants should start considering how EMV technology implementation will affect their businesses and look into options for accepting chip-based credit and debit cards.

PCI Compliance

PCI Compliance is a set of comprehensive security standards (PCI, DSS, PA DSS and PED) designed to enhance customer and payment account security. There are many aspects to compliance including management policies, procedures, network architecture, software design and other critical protective measures.
  • If you are not compliant you can be fined, have restrictions on card acceptance, possibly be permanently prohibited from card acceptance and get charged for card re-issuance costs.
  • Become PCI compliant quickly and easily with PCI Rapid ComplySM.
